There’s no such thing as impartiality… is that so bad?

It is a complex world, and we, humans, limited. First and foremost, thanks to self-deception, we don’t recognize most of our biases. But then comes what we normally leave out of the impartiality debate: our dreams.

We all have our visions of how we want our lives to be. Desires that move us into action.

As long as we all have our own dreams and longings, we have conflicts of interest.

Unless we manage to accord on the same narrative, to share the exact same vision of what world we want to live in, there’s no way out.

We are interdependent beings, we need each other to live, and to make our dreams come true. What would be of me without the people harvesting apples, building bridges, hosting websites, doing my accounting and making takeaway cappuccinos?

7 billion humans on one Earth that came all the way here to dream. So we better get used to it: there’s no such thing as impartiality, we will always have conflicts of interest.

Now, can we work on it without having dictators around?

We need to dialogue, compromise, exchange, give and receive. If we all had the same dream, if we worked together in complete harmony and had no arguments, then we would be perfect and there would be no room to grow.

Accept we are not impartial, and that’s ok. Let’s work on our emotional maturity. Let’s take aligned actions, despite our biases, and work on as many dreams as we can.
